Nick Watson is Senior Legal Counsel and Regional Counsel, Europe & Africa at Control Risks. He is also a partner at Control Risks and a member of the Europe & Africa regional executive committee.

Prior to joining Control Risks, Nick worked as in-house counsel at Cummins, a global engineering corporation and power provider. Before that, Nick was a corporate lawyer in private practice with US firm Dechert and afterwards at City of London firm, Berwin Leighton Paisner.

Control Risks’ business encompasses an unusually diverse range of specialisms, including: armed and unarmed security; forensic investigations; business intelligence; political risk / market analysis; crisis consultancy and response (resolving cases of kidnap, extortion, threat and illegal detention); and cyber security consulting.

At Control Risks, Nick provides strategic and tactical advice to senior management and other colleagues across the breadth of the group’s operations. Nick’s role embraces policy, procedures, contracting, compliance and disputes. He also works on issues that transcend notional ‘legal advice’ boundaries to address areas such as operational risk management, brand and reputation, conflicts of interest and ethical concerns.
