Daphne Perry qualified as a barrister and practised for 12 years until 1997, when Chambers’ Directory included her in the top 11 juniors for commercial work in London. Since then she has worked as a legal writer, trainer, editor and consultant on contract law and plain English for law and business, including 12 years supporting litigators in a City of London law firm and 8 years writing for Practical Law Commercial.
She is the UK representative and international secretary of Clarity, the international association for plain language in the law, and co-author of the Law Society’s textbook Clarity for Lawyers (3rd edition, 2017).
